Virtual Neuro2020 brings together various actors in the field of brain health on 8th December

Neurocenter Finland organises Neuro2020 Business meets Science Industry and Innovation for researchers, companies and third sector actors involved in neuroscience in virtual format on 8th December. This new type of event brings together various actors involved in brain health promotion to find new partnerships. Originally scheduled for March, the event was changed to be held in December and in virtual format due to the coronavirus situation.

Neuro2020 promotes both national and international cooperation

Neuro2020 provides a virtual discussion platform for researchers, companies and third sector actors involved in neurosciences, helping them connect with top experts around the world. The new event concept seeks to promote cooperation within the neuroscience sector and showcase top-level research and success stories in commercialisation. Speaking at the event are representatives of international companies and foundations. The Finnish keynote speakers include neurosurgeon Miikka Korja, specialist in neurology Kiti Müller, psychiatrist Markku Lähteenvuo and futurist Esko Valtaoja. The event will be in English and free of charge.

NeuroPitch – new way of funding research in neuroscience

The first ever NeuroPitch research-based pitching competition sponsored by the OLVI foundation is also organised as part of Neuro2020. It is a competition for researchers seeking solutions related to the brain health, disease prevention, care, and rehabilitation in the field of neuroresearch of aging. In honour of its 65th anniversary, the OLVI foundation is sponsoring NeuroPitch. The winner of the competition will receive 30,000 euros to advance their research proposal.

Neurocenter Finland’s mission is uniting researchers

The establishment of Neurocenter Finland has been assessed as part of the Health Sector Growth Strategy for Research and Innovation Activities and the Personalised Medicine project in an establishment project that is funded by Finnish ministries and coordinated by the University of Eastern Finland. Neurocenter Finland is established for the purpose of promoting national and international cooperation in neuroscience research, creating a better link between practical patient care and social and health sector innovations, and advancing innovations related to brain health. The objectives include better brain health and reduced cost of brain diseases in Finland, increased quality and impact of scientific research, and new innovations and their successful commercialisation. The Neuro2020 Business meets Science Industry and Innovation event is meant to become part of Neurocenter Finland’s operations as an annually organised event.
