Neurological diseases directly or indirectly affect almost all Finns, as well as millions of people worldwide. Finland’s research in neuroscience and related product development are of excellent quality and adhere to high international standards; this expertise is therefore highly respected.
One of the main reasons for the neuroscience success story in Finland has been the voluntary participation of Finnish citizens in the development of drugs and treatments, either by donating specimens and samples or as participants in clinical trials. This has enabled the development of new therapies.
The current goal is to develop yet more targeted treatments for various neurological diseases. Individualized care and new treatments are expected to provide improved therapeutic possibilities and better healthcare.
