How do tumors escape complement killing? – KCT Seminar Series

How do tumors escape complement killing? – KCT Seminar Series

Speaker: Seppo Meri, Professor of Immunology, University of Helsinki

The complement system is the most potent cytotoxic system in the human body. It can be directed against targets, like microbes, with specific antibodies, but targeting against tumors is hampered by their inherent resistance mechanisms. In my lecture, I will explore the tricks that malignant tumor cells utilize to protect themselves against complement attack and discuss whether these mechanisms can be neutralized to sensitize tumors to complement killing.

Participants can send questions they would like to be addressed in the presentation to Prof. Seppo Meri (seppo.meri(a)helsinki.fi).

The seminar is organized by Kuopio Center for Gene and Cell Therapy (KCT). The event, which is free of charge and open to everyone interested, will be held in English. No registration needed. Welcome!
