Human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) present unprecedented opportunities to model human disease. Although animal models are essential in medical research, they do not fully recapitulate early human development, tissue formation or human diseases, and thus do not completely elucidate human tissue functions in healthy and disease conditions. New generation techniques, including stem cell technology, enable studies that can better simulate the situation in human body. The course will cover the bases as well as some latest findings in using iPS cells in human disease modeling and for drug screening. Speakers from academia, industry, health services and regulatory bodies will discuss their work with iPSCs. Meet the speaker event will provide the students ample opportunity for informal interactions with the lecturers.
Lectures are open to all students, postdocs and personnel in UEF and also to other academic & industry participants outside UEF.
Certificate of attendance will be provided against a request to participants that are not UEF students.
Maximum participant amount to the lectures is 60.
Registration is free of charge for all the participants.
